Columbus living, Italy dreaming..

My trip to Rome this Summer was nothing less than perfect. If I could live anywhere on earth, it would be in Italy.  I absolutely love everything about it; the people, the language, culture, fashion, coffee, art, history, architecture, vino, and the FOOD…which is why we walked all day and night so we didn’t gain 10 lbs.

Matt and I went for 3 full days at the end of August as part of our honeymoon. Before our trip we made a list of places to visit, restaurants to try, and hotels to stay. Below is an itinerary of the stops we made each day. Everywhere in Rome is about a 20 minute walk so we strapped on our comfortable shoes and started our adventure!

Day 1: The Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Piazza Novona and Trevi Fountain.

Day 2: The Colosseum/Forum* and then walked to Trastevere- which is right across the river.

Day 3: The Vatican and St. Peter’s Square*

*We did get a private tour guide for the Colosseum and the Vatican which I highly recommend doing.  He was able to get us through lines and security checks really quickly. We had the guide for 3 hours each day and it cost 150 euro which was a really good deal.

A few other recommendations:

Always ask for house wine (it is way cheaper and tastes the same as the other stuff!)

The hotels we stayed at were Mariott Boscolo and Hotel Artemide. Both are located right on the main street (Via Nazionale) which makes it easy to walk everywhere. Since Rome is so touristy a lot of people speak English which helps if you get lost.

This was my first trip to Italy  and I am already trying to convince Matt that we NEED to buy a house and move there immediately. Below are a few of the million pictures I took..
